We were having trouble with our Sprinter van, again... The Mercedes dealer gave us a huge quote to fix it and we were surprised, since much of the work was similar to a partial engine rebuild done under warranty just 50,000 miles before. We had another Sprinter expert look at it just to get a second opinion. He had the van for 2 weeks and suggested a similar course to what the Mercedes dealer did, i.e. new turbo, particulate filter, egr, manifolds, etc. At this point, with a van that has never run right since new, we figured we would just sell it for parts. As a last resort, we called Burdi, after seeing their online reviews. Carmine is super intelligent and seems to enjoy the challenge of really figuring out why there is a problem versus just reading codes and changing parts. He had a theory about the Sprinter, which proved to be right and we spent a fraction of what the other shops would have charged. He pointed out that the oil recommended in the owner's manual is actually wrong and can cause carbon build-up, which explained our engine rebuild. He and his technician's also gave the truck a thorough once-over and found some additional items which we were't thrilled about, but hey, they need to be done to save future problems. How nice to find someone professional, honest, and capable!
