Regular vehicle inspections are mandatory by law, but they are also good for your automobile. Inspections can reveal any current issues or concerns with your vehicle, which allows you to get them fixed before they turn into something worse.

At Burdi Motorworks, we provide a variety of comprehensive services for all Mercedes vehicles. We have more than 40 years of experience working with Mercedes and Sprinter models, giving us the knowledge we need to provide top-quality service for every one of our customers.

When to Get a Mercedes-Benz Inspection

The frequency of inspections will vary depending on the vehicle and the owner. Someone who drives an older model may need more frequent inspections, while a brand-new car can go for a few years before an inspection is necessary. By law, a brand-new car can go three years before an inspection, and every other car needs to go in every two years. However, when you own a luxury car, your vehicle will benefit from coming in more frequently.

We recommend that you bring in your Mercedes for an inspection once a year or every 10,000 miles. If you use your car more frequently, you’ll need to bring it in more often, too. When you bring your vehicle in for an inspection, it will go through our Mercedes Multi-Point Inspection. We have two types of service available — Service A and Service B. Our experienced team will provide your car with a number of different checks, including:

  • Testing windshield wipers, lights and back window wipers and topping off fluids
  • Checking turn and warning signals for proper operation
  • Testing the seat belts
  • Replacing the dust filter if needed
  • Topping off all other fluids
  • Checking tire pressure and condition
  • Resetting the Flexible Service System counter, which tells you when to bring your car in for inspection

This comprehensive examination will reveal any issues with your vehicle, whether they are minor or more serious. If we find anything of concern, we will meet with you to go over everything and give you our recommendations for the repairs.

Pre-Purchase Inspections

Are you considering a pre-owned Mercedes-Benz? Burdi Motorworks offers a full pre-purchase inspection to give you an idea of specific issues that will need to be addressed. We can protect you from purchasing a misrepresented vehicle with hidden problems and / or requiring expensive repairs. We provide you with the knowledge that will help you negotiate a sensible price with the seller. We will perform a complete diagnostic scan, road test, and visually inspect the vehicle for about one hour, and consult with you for another 30 minutes to discuss our findings.

By providing you with a thorough inspection of your pre-owned car, you are less likely to encounter any unexpected repairs and problems down the line. If the previous owner is not fully truthful about the status of their vehicle or lies outright to ask for a higher price, you will be the one to pay for it. On top of the price you paid for the vehicle, you may also end up paying for extra repairs soon after you take possession of the car.

Doing this is unethical, but it happens. Sometimes, the previous owner is simply unaware of any problems with their car. A pre-purchase inspection on a pre-owned vehicle is a way for you to protect yourself. If an issue comes up during the pre-purchase inspection, you can negotiate a lower price or request a repair before the purchase moves forward.

At Burdi Motorworks, we want to help protect you from being taken advantage of and get the best price for your pre-owned Mercedes. When you request a pre-purchase inspection, you know your new car is in the condition that the previous owner claims it is, and you can more confidently make the purchase.

Whether you’re coming in for your annual inspection or need an inspection on a pre-owned vehicle for sale, Burdi Motorworks will do a complete job to get you back on the road.

Why Mercedes Inspections Are Important

Bringing your Mercedes in for routine inspection has several important benefits. Inspections are a type of maintenance on your car — it can save you money over time and keeps your vehicle in top shape. When you give your car the care it needs, it will take care of you for a long time.

Even if routine inspections were not mandatory by law, you should still have them done. They are required because they prevent unsafe vehicles from being out on the road, but they still give your car some key advantages.

When your car has a problem, the inspection can reveal it. This is important because if an issue goes undetected, it can eventually become much worse and potentially even become a hazard for you and other drivers on the road.

Inspections are planned and affordable costs. Unfortunately, it’s much more difficult to plan ahead for a repair, and these repairs can cost much more than an inspection. Regular inspections can lower your chances of having to pay for an expensive repair on your vehicle. Over time, the inspections will help save you money on your car maintenance costs.

Finally, routine inspections help keep you safe while you’re out on the road. Not everyone is familiar with their car’s mechanics and can’t always recognize when something isn’t working the way it should. During the inspection, you’re putting your car into expert hands.

When you choose Burdi Motorworks for your Mercedes inspection, we will examine your car’s different systems and safety features to make sure it is working properly. Once we’ve looked over your entire vehicle, we will either pass it through or recommend the repairs it needs.

Mercedes Inspection Checklist

During your inspection at Burdi Motorworks, our team of professionals will look closely at your vehicle’s systems to see if there are any issues, no matter how serious. Even when everything checks out for the basic requirements, we will still notify you of any problems we encounter.

When you take your Mercedes in for its routine maintenance, there are two basic inspection types we complete:

  • Emissions Inspections: To make sure your car is still adhering to laws regarding pollution and other types of emissions, inspections must test the parts of the vehicle that contribute to air pollution. Although not every state requires emissions testing, Illinois does require it in most areas.
  • Safety Inspections: This is the part of the inspection that makes sure your car is safe to be out on the road. The requirements for safety testing also varies by state, but it will cover basic parts like the windshield, horn, lights, suspension, brakes and more.

At Burdi Motorworks, we go beyond these basic checks. We want to make sure your vehicle doesn’t just pass its inspection — we want it to be in better shape when it leaves than when it came in.

Like we mentioned before, you can opt for either Service A or Service B. No matter which option you choose, you know that you will have a thorough, careful check of your entire car.

We only use parts and fluids that adhere to Mercedes-Benz standards. When you own a luxury car, you know that only the best is good enough for your vehicle. To keep it running its best, you need to use materials like these — and in addition to using the right materials, you need to trust your vehicle to the right people.
